Women and the transport sector

WOW crosses borders with a new round table at the Salão Nacional do Transporte 2026

7 July, 2026

On July 4, we experienced a new milestone for WOW – Women On The Way with the celebration of our first WOW Round Table in Portugal, as part of the Salão Nacional do Transporte 2026, held in Pombal.

This event allowed us to continue taking our commitment to the visibility of women in transport beyond our borders, creating a space for conversation where experiences could be shared, sector challenges discussed and the role women play across all areas of the industry highlighted.

At WOW, we believe that every story has the power to inspire others and help transform the sector. That is why this round table brought together women from different professional backgrounds who shared their journeys, learnings and vision for the present and future of transport.

A space to listen, share and inspire

The event was marked by an open and enriching dialogue, addressing topics such as the evolution of women’s role in transport, the importance of creating role models, the challenges that still exist and the opportunities to continue moving towards a more diverse and inclusive sector.

Beyond individual experiences, the meeting highlighted the value of creating spaces where knowledge can be shared, connections can be built and visibility can be given to those who contribute every day to the growth of transport through their work.

Our speakers

The round table participants — Andreia Figueiredo, professional driver; Olinda Lopes, Director of Transportes 88; Marta Silva, Manager of On Wings LDA; and Marta Angeja, Director of Technical Studies at ANTRAM — shared their experiences and professional journeys in an enriching discussion that highlighted the role of women in transport.

Through their testimonies, they conveyed an inspiring message to future generations, emphasizing the importance of continuing to promote female talent, learning and inclusion in the sector.

An edition with a charitable purpose

This edition was also especially meaningful because it was held with a charitable purpose, reinforcing the spirit of collaboration and commitment that we share with the sector.

We believe that promoting initiatives that generate a positive impact goes far beyond organizing meetings: it means building a community that shares values, combines efforts and works together to move forward.

Thank you for making it possible

We would like to thank everyone who joined us during this round table and actively participated in such a special event.

We would also like to thank ANTRAM for organizing the Salão Nacional do Transporte, for giving us the opportunity to include WOW in the official programme and for continuing to promote spaces that encourage dialogue, the exchange of experiences and the development of the sector.

Likewise, our thanks go to all our speakers for their generosity, openness and commitment in sharing their stories. Every contribution enriched a conversation that encourages us to keep working towards a transport sector where talent receives increasing visibility, regardless of role.

This is only the beginning

Every WOW gathering represents another step towards our purpose: continuing to give visibility to women in the sector, creating role models and fostering conversations that inspire change.

We will continue creating spaces where experiences can be shared, female talent can be recognized and, together, we can build a more diverse, inclusive and future-ready transport sector.

Because when a woman shares her story, many others discover that they can write their own.
